TAU CAMP is situated in a beautiful open woodland, where Giraffe, Eland, Zebra, Nyala and Impala are commonly found. Sable are also regular visitors to the campsite. The camp is spread over an area of about four hectares, with the campsites and the facilities connected by little paths winding through the woodland. A splash pool below the campsite is a lovely place to spend some time cooling off after a walk. The whole campsite blends beautifully into the surrounding bush, as there are no fences the animals are constantly in and around the campsite, creating the perfect camping experience.
The camp offers several unusual, spotlessly clean bathrooms. From the main bathroom which is thatch and has a shower and two toilets , to an outside shower and a separate outside toilet, the final bathroom has a thatch roof over the toilet and hand basin with a beautiful outside shower.
All these facilities are built around large trees and incorp0rate existing rocks as the shower floors.
All the bathrooms and the kitchen have gas geysers which ensure an endless supply of hot water.
Tau Camp has four individual campsites Francolin, Hornbill, Drongo and Oriole, there is a fifth campsite Kingfisher available for one night travellers on their way to Botswana. The campsites are 150 to 200 meters apart so are very private.
Each site has a fireplace, braai grid and a tap, there is also a power point for guests to plug in an extension if required. Hard braai wood is available to purchase on the farm
The five campsites all share the bathrooms and the kitchen.
Each campsite can accommodate either a couple or several families from the same group.
The main covered bathroom is close to Drongo. It is a spacious family bathroom, with a shower, two toilets and handbasins. Hand wash and lotion is supplied at all the bathrooms as are hand towels.
This bathroom also has a plug point, for hairdryers or charging cellphones.
An outside shower built under the spreading branches of wild Syringa trees, offers a totally different experience. Showering under the warmth of the African sun, or at night with the twinkling stars and a huge silver moon.
The outside toilet is discreetly situated in a thicket of lekkerbreek, again both of these facilities are constructed around existing large trees.
The latest bathroom has a thatch roof over the toilet and basin, but has an outside shower in a small garden. It, like all the other facilities has plenty of hanging space and place to put toiletries.
A small indigenous garden adds to the delight of this bathroom
The Kitchen has two washing sinks, an info area and table and chairs for those wishing to swap travelling experiences.
A small splash pool is situated in the beautiful woodland below the campsite. It has a rustic fence to keep animals and small children out. Surrounded by green lawn with wooden loungers, it is a lovely place to relax cool off and watch the game wandering past. The pool has a large martini seat a perfect place to sit and watch the sun setting over the surrounding bush.
